McLaren's Jonathan Neale predicting another challenging weekend for them at Silverstone

McLaren Managing Director Jonathan Neale has admitted that it will most likely be a case of 'more of the same' at their home race this weekend.

The subject of in-season testing has been a contentious one, of course, owing to the tyre test Mercedes performed with Pirelli last month. Unlike, for example, Ferrari, who had plenty to say in the wake of the FIA's decision to reprimand both team and tyre supplier for the test, Neale said McLaren would not be drawn, although he did admit they "were not surprised that there was a decision of a breach under Article 22 [of the Sporting Regulations]". "Provided there's some consistency going forward, I think we have to accept as rugby players do that when the referee blows the whistle then that's it - there's a decision made," he added. Neale also reckons the FIA's decision to make Mercedes sit out next month's young driver test at Silverstone will prove a setback for them. "With the paucity of track testing that we have at the moment, missing the young driver test is obviously problematic," he added. "Mercedes are a good team with a good car and a good driver line-up. They will be sorry to miss it."
