Grougi at the double to send Brest into third
Bruno Grougi scored two second-half goals as Brest claimed a convincing 4-1 home win over Lens in their rearranged Ligue 1 match on Tuesday evening.
Grougi took the game away from the visitors, who had got back into the contest just before half-time through Eduardo dos Santos, to send Brest up to third in the table, level on points with leaders Marseille.
Goals from Romain Poyet and Paul Baysse had put Brest in control early on, both made by Grougi.
Grougi's free-kick found the head of Poyet, who headed past Vedran Runje in the 12th minute.
Indecision
Baysse made it two seven minutes later, capitalising on a moment's indecision from Runje to head in Grougi's corner at the near post.
Lens came back into it and a fine team move involving Yohan Demont and Sebastian Roudet ended with Eduardo playing a one-two with Henri Bedimo, but his shot was deflected behind by goalkeeper Steeve Elana.
However, Eduardo got the better of Elana in the 44th minute, running on to a long ball, holding off Brou Apanga and firing home.
Roudet was denied by Elana at the other end before Grougi got Brest's fourth with 10 minutes to go.
Roux crossed from the left and Grougi got in between two defenders to head home.
