Shakers batter Burton to keep promotion hopes alive

Bury's play-off bid is firmly back on track after they ended a run of four straight defeats with a 3-0 win over Burton. The stuttering hosts got themselves off to an ideal start when they scored after nine minutes - their first goal from open play since February 9. As Albion centre-back Tony James tried to block David Worrall's angled drive, he could only divert the ball past stunned goalkeeper Artur Krysiak. Bury striker Ryan Lowe then struck a powerful shot which flew just past a post, while at the other end Russell Penn went on a mazy run before seeing his 20-yard drive saved well by Wayne Brown. After Lowe and James Poole had gone close for the hosts, they finally did double their lead with 14 minutes remaining. A huge clearance from goalkeeper Brown eventually fell for substitute Andy Morrell and he nipped in ahead of defender Tom Parkes before poking a shot past Krysiak. The victory was wrapped up with four minutes to go when Worrall crossed from the left and Morrell got ahead of youngster Shaun Kelly to guide the ball past Krysiak for his second of the afternoon. Bury substitute Micheal Jones was then sent off after picking up a second yellow card in stoppage time.
