Billy Clarke hit his first goal for Crawley to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Aldershot in League Two on Tuesday night.
The former Blackpool striker denied Aldershot victory two minutes from time by scoring with a left-foot shot from six yards following a flick-on by John Akinde at the Broadfield Stadium. Substitute Peter Vincenti should have given Aldershot maximum points in stoppage-time when he blazed wide after keeper Rene Gilmartin blocked a shot from Guy Madjo. Aldershot made the perfect start and led after five minutes when Aaron Morris struck with a deflected shot from 18 yards which crept into the bottom corner. Striker Gary Alexander, making his home debut on loan from Brentford, pulled Crawley level after 33 minutes from the penalty spot after Claude Davis was shoved over by Sonny Bradley. Clarke wasted a glorious chance to put Crawley ahead nine minutes after the break by heading wide following a Scott Davies centre. Vincenti restored Aldershot's lead after 61 minutes with a tremendous left-foot shot into the roof of the net from 16 yards following good work by Anthony Straker before Clarke's leveller.
