Darlington conceded three goals at home for the third straight game as Torquay cantered to a 3-1 victory at the Darlington Arena.
Mark Ellis opened the scoring after only nine minutes when Darlington failed to clear a corner and Ellis volleyed the ball back across goal and into the roof of the net.
Seconds before the break Darlington fell further behind as Eunan O'Kane broke clear and fired a low shot that bounced beyond the despairing dive of Shane Redmond.
Darlington pulled a goal back through teenage striker Curtis Main in the 54th minute.
The Gulls failed to clear the danger and when Scott Bevan was unable to hold on to the ball, Main tapped in from a couple of yards out.
Torquay substitute Mustapha Carayol completed the scoring with a volley from eight yards five minutes from time after the Darlington defence failed to cut out a deep cross from the right.
