Plymouth have given their survival hopes a massive boost after coming from behind to beat Doncaster.

Wright-Phillips snatches injury-time winner

Plymouth Argyle have given their survival hopes a shot in the arm after coming from behind to secure a last-gasp 2-1 success at Doncaster. Rovers moved in front just before the hour mark when James Coppinger netted, but the Pilgrims, like they did at Barnsley, fought back in South Yorkshire. Joe Mason levelled matters with 67 minutes played and, with a draw on the cards at the Keepmoat Stadium, Bradley Wright-Phillips secured all three points with an injury-time winner. Plymouth are now just three points behind fourth-from-bottom Watford with five games remaining while Rovers are six points adrift of the play-off positions. The visitors started like a team fighting for their lives and went straight at Doncaster with Chris Clark having a shot blocked into the path of Reda Johnson who fired straight at Neil Sullivan. Doncaster gradually began to find their rhythm and Mark Wilson had a shot saved by Stockdale before Hayter was off target after being found by John Oster's corner. Stockdale's form has been one of the few positives for Plymouth in recent weeks and he produced another fine save with 16 minutes gone to tip James Coppinger's shot around the post.

Saved

Minutes later Johnson had a header saved by Sullivan and at the other end Coppinger's cross found Hayter, but he headed wide when he should have done better. Doncaster continued to press with Oster firing over from the edge of the box and just after the half-hour mark David Stockdale made another fine save to deny the hosts. Plymouth failed to clear their lines and the ball fell to on-loan Arsenal man Jay Emmanuel-Thomas but his shot was parried away by the keeper. The home side finished the half on top and Hayter was off-target with another effort from 20 yards before Coppinger fired wide just before the break. Plymouth looked bright at the start of the second-half and Wright-Phillips' cross found Clark on the edge of the box but he dragged the shot wide. However, Doncaster quickly took control once again and Emmanuel-Thomas let fly with a rasping effort from 25 yards but Stockdale made another good save.
Opening goal
Moments later Emmanuel-Thomas had a header saved by Stockdale before Doncaster took the lead with 58 minutes gone. Hayter played the ball into Coppinger and he rode a tackle before firing a half-volley past the helpless Stockdale. Emmanuel-Thomas was causing Plymouth problems and he tried his luck with another effort from distance but the ball ran harmlessly wide. Doncaster looked likely to get a second but with 67 minutes gone, Johnson's cross found Mason who finished well from inside the box just six minutes after coming on. The home side responded well and Emmanuel-Thomas got on the end of a cross from Hayter but Stockdale came to Plymouth's rescue once again to tip the shot over the bar. With 11 minutes remaining Doncaster came agonisingly close to going back in front when James O'Connor backheeled to Hayter who smashed the ball against the crossbar. The game looked to be heading for a draw but in the first minute of stoppage time Onismor Bhasera's free-kick found Wright-Phillips and he headed in a vital winner.
