Nurnberg snapped their four-game losing streak but could only pick up a 0-0 draw at home to Bavarian rivals Augsburg on Sunday. The point lifted Augsburg out of the drop zone for a short time before Stuttgart moved back ahead them with a victory in Sunday's late game at Hamburg. The game lacked highlights for most of the first half. One of the few chances came at the half-hour mark as Nuremberg goalkeeper Raphael Schafer got down quick enough to make a fine save from Knowledge Musona's shot from 15 yards. Nurnberg had an opportunity just before the break but Hanno Balitsch could not get enough behind his shot as Augsburg goalkeeper Mohamed Amsif made an easy save. Schafer was substituted at the break with an Achilles tendon injury with Patrick Rakovsky coming on. The hosts were close seven minutes after the re-start but Timo Gebhart's blast went off Sebastian Langkamp. Augsburg nearly took the lead after 62 minutes with a double chance as Torsten Oehrl and Tobias Werner both had their shots stopped by Nurnberg players in the crowd in front of their goal. Rakovsky made a spectacular save to keep the clean sheet just five minutes later as an onrushing Aristide Bance struck a header from five yards out which the back-up keeper barely stopped at the line. Neither team really challenged the opposing goal after that.
