Heracles eased fears of being dragged into the Eredivisie relegation battle with a surprise 4-0 home hammering of NAC Breda.
The hosts sat one place above the danger zone ahead of kick-off following last weekend's 5-1 defeat to Feyenoord, while NAC occupied seventh spot.
However, Heracles bounced back in style as Jan Wuytens, Ricky van den Bergh, Juha Hakola and Willie Overtoom netted inside the opening 40 minutes.
Wuytens scored the game's first goal in the 12th minute, and Van den Bergh then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot midway through the half.
Hakola added a third on 27 minutes, and five minutes before the interval Overtoom ensured NAC had no way back.
Heracles overtook Sparta Rotterdam as a result of the victory, and are now four points clear of 15th-placed ADO Den Haag.
