Grimsby battle to save football league status
Grimsby kept their Football League survival hopes alive with a battling 1-0 victory over Hereford at Edgar Street.
An 18th-minute strike from Jamie Devitt set up the Mariners' second away win in six days, although results elsewehere did little to help their cause.
Grimsby, who dominated from the start, took thelead when midfielder Devitt latched onto a loose ball 20 yards out before rifling a shot past goalkeeper Adam Bartlett into the roof of the net.
Hereford had a chance to level when Ryan Green released the ball to Jake Jervis, but the on-loan Birmingham striker scuffed the ball wide.
Grimsby were quickly back on the offensive with Sinclair forcing goalkeeper Bartlett to turn his low drive away for a corner.
Michael Coulson missed a gilt-edged chance to put the Mariners further in front when he skied the ball over the crossbar after Bartlett had dropped a cross from Joe Widdowson.
