Dany N'Guessan got Lincoln out of jail as his late strike earned the League Two side a replay against non-league Kettering following a 1-1 draw.
The Poppies thought they had won it when Exodus Geohaghan grabbed his first goal for the club with just five minutes remaining.
But the Imps hit straight back and N'Guessan latched onto a long ball to equalise just seconds later.
In an action-packed opening, Kettering's Alfie Potter - one of the heroes of Havant & Waterlooville's cup run last season - flashed a 20-yard snap-shot just wide straight from kick-off.
Iyseden Christie and Chris Arthur then went close as Kettering increased the pressure and they eventually took the lead when Andre Boucard lifted the ball into the box and Geohaghan superbly controlled the ball on his chest before firing into the top corner.
But moments later Scott Kerr's hopeful ball forward caught Kettering's defence napping and N'Guessan nipped in to round the keeper and tap in.
