Verona's fighting spirit broken in the closing stages
Lazio booked their place in the last eight of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Verona.
Anderson Hernanes was the hero for the Roman giants as they edged a thrilling encounter at Stadio Olimpico.
Andre Dias put Lazio in front moments before half-time and they appeared to be cruising through when Tommaso Rocchi struck on 57 minutes.
Second tier Verona refused to lie down, though, and hauled themselves back into the contest.
The Serie B side have been in fine form recently and were not overawed by the challenge presented to them.
Some inspired second half changes saw them turn things around, with Emanuele Berrettoni and Marco D'Alessandro netting twice in the space of seven minutes just after the hour mark.
Hernanes was to have the final say, though, and he grabbed what proved to be the winner in the final minute, sending the majority of the 47,000 in attendance home happy.
