Matthew Tipton kick-started Macclesfield's season with a speculative opener in a 2-0 home win over Port Vale.
Returning for a third spell with the Cheshire outfit, Tipton scored his first goal of the season with a curling 25-yard drive after just six minutes.
The 29-year-old striker almost added another seconds later but his left-foot shot was well saved by Vale goalkeeper Chris Martin.
The visitors offered precious little all evening with striker Doug Loft missing the only chance of the first half, blazing over the bar after 21 minutes.
Clincher
And Macc's first league win of the season was secured midway through the second half when 20-year-old midfielder Hamza Bencherif smashed in a 20-yard volley after his first shot had crashed back to him off the crossbar.
Bencherif had clearly got a taste for goal, raining in two further strikes in the dying stages that tested the Martin from long range.
Marc Richards had a chance for Vale late on when he sent a fizzing free-kick narrowly wide but they remain winless.
