Ouaddou involved in fan row

Metz and the French league plan to sue a fan who allegedly shouted racist remarks at Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Action to be taken after incident in Valenciennes' defeat at Metz

Metz and the French Football League plan to sue a fan who allegedly shouted racist remarks at Valenciennes defender Abdeslam Ouaddou. The alleged incident happened during Valenciennes' 2-1 defeat at Metz in Ligue 1 on Saturday, which led to Ouaddou remonstrating with a supporter. The former Fulham defender went into the crowd to confront the fan and confirmed that he was asked to file a complaint. Ouaddou told reporters: "The police officers asked me to file a complaint so that this person could be punished and maybe banned from the stadium."

Case to go far

Both Metz and the French league (LFP) have confirmed that legal action will be taken against the fan in question. Metz president Carlo Molinari told RMC Info: "I do not know this guy, but we will go very far in this case. "I hope he will be banned from stadiums. And if the club is punished in financial terms, we will return to this gentleman." League president Frederic Thiriez also confirmed action is underway following the scenes at Metz's Stade Saint-Symphorien.
