Halmosi delight at Hull chance

Hull new-boy Peter Halmosi has spoken of his pride at becoming the club's 'unofficial' record signing.

Hungarian revels in record-breaking role

Hull new-boy Peter Halmosi has spoken of his pride at becoming the club's 'unofficial' record signing. The Hungarian arrived at the KC Stadium from Championship side Plymouth last week for a reputed £2million. The winger admits that he cannot wait to test himself in the top flight next season, but must first come to terms with the fact that he is the most expensive player ever to pull on a Tigers shirt. "Before thinking about the games against Arsenal or Manchester United, first I have to deal with the fact that 'non-officially' I became the most expensive player at the club," Halmosi told Nemzeti Sport. "Such good players have arrived, like George Boateng, Geovanni and Bernard Mendy, but Hull paid the most for me.

Teamwork

"Hull are a strong team - they proved this by winning promotion - but the squad changed a lot. "The arrivals weren't signed to sit on the bench and manager Phil Brown stated that the team's new style should be based upon more teamwork. "I've talked to our manager and he stressed it too that I broke the club record with my transfer fee. "He showed me the training centre and told me that he's happy that I play for his team and not as an opponent. "Our plan is now to stay in the Premier League for as long as it's possible."
Opportunity
Halmosi went on to explain that he could not afford to turn down the opportunity to play in the Premier League at a crucial stage of his career. "I'll be 29 (in September), I'm at the best age of a footballer, I had a great season and then I got this possibility," he said. "I thank Plymouth a lot, but I never made a secret of it that I want to play in the Premier League. We couldn't win promotion with my previous team so the fans should understand why I've decided to move on. "The team travels to Belgium for the weekend but I will stay here because I have to move from Plymouth to Hull."
