Sociedad boss happy with start

Real Sociedad coach Martin Lasarte is attempting to curb expectation levels at the club. The newly promoted Basque outfit have made an excellent start to life back in La Liga as they currently sit in seventh place. The talk is now of a renewed bid to qualify for Europe, which last came in 2003, when they finished in second under Raynald Denoueix. "If we get into a position where we can compete in something else, then we will do, we have to believe it is possible and not be afraid," said Lasarte. "It would be great and important to us to get the cushion of points that would allow us to compete with more tranquillity. "Bu the problem can arise when the euphoria exceeds the expectations." One issue for Lasarte is keeping his squad fit as he has a number of players sidelined through injury. Jon Ansotegi, Raul Tamudo, Sutil Paco, Diego Ifran and Markel Bergara are all sidelined, and joining that list over the weekend was David Zurutuza as he damaged his knee against Racing Santander.
