Young midfielder to undergo surgery on knee problem
PSV Eindhoven midfielder Stijn Wuytens is facing two months on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury.
The 21-year-old sustained the damage against Vitesse Arnhem on Sunday and was substituted midway through the second half of PSV's 2-1 win at the Philips Stadion.
The problem has been diagnosed as external meniscus damage to his right knee and the Belgian requires exploratory surgery.
"I felt there was something wrong yesterday," He told
PSV TV on Monday. "A disappointment, sure.
"Therefore I will focus on my recovery and the start of preparations for the new season."
Wuyten's injury will see the midfielder miss the last game of the season when PSV travel to Groningen on Sunday.
The Dutch giants have already been ruled out of the Eredivisie title race, which will be decided by FC Twente and Ajax this weekend.
