Hamid given opportunity to impress Premier League club

West Bromwich Albion have taken DC United goalkeeper Bill Hamid on trial to assess whether he would be worth 'pursuing'. Hamid is spending the week training with the Premier League club after impressing during the 2011 Major League Soccer season. The 21-year-old has also been called up to the USA national team squad this year and Baggies assistant boss Michael Appleton confirmed the club's interest in the keeper. "Bill is here for a week so we can have a look at him," Appleton told the club's official website. "The MLS season has virtually finished now and it is an opportunity for him to come over. "When we were in the States in the summer on pre-season tour there were various names thrown at us. "Bill's name was one of them but until now there has not been an opportunity for him to get over for us to have a look at him. "This week has been a good opportunity for him and us to see if he is worth pursuing."
