Posh boss upset at how story leaked out
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson admits the club are a long way off agreeing a new deal with Queens Park Rangers target Joe Lewis.
Lewis is out of contract at the end of the season and Peterborough are considering selling him in January rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.
As a result of Lewis' contract situation Peterborough allowed the goalkeeper to train with Queens Park Rangers last week ahead of a possible move in January.
Lewis is set to link up with QPR this week again as they weigh up making a bid for the highly-rated custodian.
News of Lewis' training stint at Loftus Road leaked out over the weekend and Ferguson admits he was disappointed at how the story emerged.
Peterborough are keen to keep hold of the England Under 21 international, but Ferguson concedes contract talks have stalled.
"As for Joe's future, we are talking to him because we want him to stay," said Ferguson. "But we are a long way apart in our negotiations at the moment.
"We don't want to lose him for nothing, but it is very disappointing the news about Joe at QPR leaked out."
