Roberto Mancini is set to dip into the transfer market after insisting his squad is not big enough to mount a serious Premier League challenge.
The Manchester City manager had to include youngsters Abdul Razak and Denis Suarez among his substitutes in their thrilling recent FA Cup defeat by rivals United.
With his squad already depleted by the absence of Yaya and Kolo Toure, who are on African Cup of Nations duty and the possibility of Vincent Kompany serving a four-match ban for seeing red against United, Mancini warned of a lack of resources at the club.
"All the people think we have a lot of players," said the Italian. "But we have 19, plus keepers. It is not a big squad.
"If we are unlucky and we have three or four players injured, like at this moment, we can have a problem. The club knows this."
