Brent reveals Lecointe interest

Plymouth Argyle owner James Brent has confirmed young forward Matt Lecointe has been the subject of interest from top English clubs.

The teenage striker has impressed this season after breaking into the first team at the Pilgrims, netting twice in 21 appearances, and has been reported to have attracted the attention of Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United. However, while Brent admitted Lecointe has been raising eyebrows, he also said Plymouth are keen to hang onto the starlet for some time to come. "There has been interest in Matt and it's fairly well documented that the administrator was trying to sell him because being a youth-team player he could be sold whereas everyone else was fortunately locked in by the transfer window," he said. "He is someone who is very highly regarded by the manager and it's the manager who forms a view and makes recommendations. "Matt is someone who has done very well for us and I hope he continues to do very well for us in three, five or seven years' time."
