Shrimps show Hunter the door

Morecambe have released long-serving midfielder Garry Hunter and three other players as manager Jim Bentley looks to mould a new squad.

The local-born 27-year-old has made more than 300 appearances for the Shrimps having joined as a youth player in 2001. Boss Jim Bentley has also released youngsters Niall Copwerthwaite, Sean Breen and Joe Culshaw. Bentley told the club's official website: "I would like to thank all the lads for their service, especially Garry who has been here a long time and given his all for the club. "He has been a model professional and I really do wish him all the best for the future." Bentley has offered new one-year contracts to Joe Mwasile, Dan Parkinson and Joe McGee and is in talks with Stewart Drummond about continuing his role as player/reserves boss.
