Capaldi relishing his comeback

Former Cardiff and Plymouth Argyle defender Tony Capaldi is looking to kick-start his Oxford career after recovering from injury.

The 30-year-old managed only one appearance last season - on the final day at Port Vale - after suffering back and knee injuries. He told United's official website: "It was very frustrating for me and not exactly how I wanted my career at Oxford to start. It was just one of those things. I had a few problems but hopefully it's all past me now and I can just get on with playing. "It was difficult because at stages during the start of last season no-one could work out what was wrong with me which is when you start panicking, thinking your career could be over, which is quite a scary thought and makes you realise how lucky you are. "I'm over the worst of it now though and it's about looking after my body correctly, which I now know how to do. Hopefully there won't be any more problems and I can kick on."
