Rangers game helped O'Hanlon

Carlisle's Sean O'Hanlon credits a strong showing in a friendly against Rangers for securing his contract at Brunton Park.

O'Hanlon was released by Hibernian in August and on Friday signed a deal until the end of the season having started training with Greg Abbott's men last month. "I've been here for a few weeks now and I've got to know the lads quite well," he told the Cumbrians' official website. "I'm just looking forward to getting started properly to be honest. "It's probably been easier to make the decision, having been here for a while, because I feel comfortable with the players and the surroundings. I've been made to feel very welcome and I think this is going to be a good move for me." "It all came about when the gaffer gave me a call and asked if I fancied coming along to train with the squad," he explained. "I enjoyed myself and we then had the game with Rangers, which he wanted me to play in, so we decided that I would stay a bit longer. "Training is one thing but I think most managers like to see how you cope with a game. The Rangers friendly gave him an opportunity to have a better look at me, so it came at a good time."
