Adam Rooney will train with Oldham during pre-season as he attempts to resolve a contractual dispute with Swindon.
The Latics have confirmed that the 25-year-old former Birmingham striker will be available for the club's pre-season friendlies despite confusion over his situation with the Robins. Rooney spent the whole of last season on loan at the County Ground scoring nine league goals in 29 appearances. An official statement on Oldham's official club website read: "Adam Rooney is currently training with Oldham Athletic in order to retain his fitness levels whilst he attempts to resolve a contractual dispute assisted by the Professional Footballers Association. "Adam will feature in the club's pre-season fixtures. "Neither the club nor the player will be making any further comment or speaking to the media about this arrangement."
