Crewe relief at Davis news

Image: Harry Davis: Injury not as bad as feared

Crewe are thankful defender Harry Davis will only be out of action for weeks, rather than months due to a knee injury.

The Alex feared the worst when the 22-year-old was taken off on a stretcher after just six minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Gillingham on Saturday at Gresty Road. However, boss Steve Davis, who is Harry's father, thinks his son could possibly be back in action before the end of October. "It is more positive news involving Harry's injury," the manager told Crewe's official website. "He has suffered a grade one, which is the minor of those types of injuries. It is the best result we could have hoped for and it will be weeks rather than months. "It looked serious at the time, because he doesn't go down very often and he came off with physio Nick (Oakley) supporting the knee, so we feared the worse, so this is positive news. He should be out between three to six weeks depending on his recovery."
