Spireites target title against Shakers; Hatters on the brink

Chesterfield can clinch the title against Bury, who have promotion in their sights, while Stockport are facing the drop. John Sheridan's Chesterfield have already booked their place in League One next term and will be crowned champions with victory over second-placed Bury. But the Shakers have huge incentive of their own and victory for the visitors will see them join the hosts in securing elevation. Stockport's season of struggle has reached crisis point and the Hatters will drop out of the Football League if they lose at home to fellow strugglers Northampton. A draw could hand the Edgeley Park outfit a stay of execution, but not if second from bottom Barnet take all three points from their home meeting with Oxford. Shrewsbury are currently in possession of the third automatic promotion berth but face a tough task when they play host to fifth-placed Accrington Stanley, who are just four points back. Wycombe play host to Crewe Alexandra knowing any slip from the Shrews will allow them to climb above their rivals and into the top three.

Striking distance

Torquay are currently in the play-off positions but cannot afford to relax over the final three games and travel to face a Burton side who remain only four points clear of the drop zone. Stevenage need to get back to winning ways to avoid sliding out of the top seven ahead of their home meeting with Port Vale who are within striking distance of the end-of-season shake-up. Rotherham and Gillingham have high hopes of forcing their way into the play-off zone and go head-to-head in a crucial contest at the Don Valley Stadium. Lincoln still have concerns of relegation with only a three-point buffer above Barnet as they welcome fellow strugglers Cheltenham to Sincil Bank. Hereford are in a similar position and continue to glance nervously over the shoulder going into the final throes of the campaign with a trip to mid-table Morecambe next on the agenda. Bradford have lost four of their last six to remain at the wrong end of the table but can secure their League Two status for another campaign with victory over Aldershot, provided Barnet are beaten. Macclesfield play host to a Southend side who have nothing more than an outside chance of clambering from mid-table into the play-off reckoning.
