Shakers clinch promotion, Hatters draw to sit on brink of relegation

Bury beat leaders Chesterfield to clinch promotion to League One, while rock bottom Stockport drew to sit on the brink of relegation. Ryan Lowe was the hero for second-placed Bury as he notched with three minutes remaining to beat Chesterfield and earn promotion. The Shakers had earlier twice taken the lead via Tom Lees and David Worrall but were pegged back by goals from Craig Davies and Jack Lester. But Lowe had the last word to draw the Shakers to within two points of the Spireites at the summit. Wycombe jumped into the last automatic promotion berth after a 2-0 home win over Crewe Alexandra. The game burst into life at the end of the first period when Scott Rendell scored a 42nd minute opener. Clayton Donaldson could then have drawn Crewe level but saw his penalty saved before Rendell scored his second via the penalty spot just before the interval to hand the Chairboys the points. Shrewsbury dropped into fourth after being held to a goalless stalemate by high-flying Accrington Stanley, who remain in fifth, four points back. Stevenage climbed into sixth after a 1-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Port Vale, with Lawrie Wilson netting the all-important winner in the 72nd minute. Andy Barcham scored the only goal with 11 minutes remaining to send Gillingham into the last play-off berth with victory at Rotherham. Torquay dropped from sixth to eighth despite salvaging a point in a six goal thriller at Burton. Chris Zebroski (10) and Gavin Tomlin (14) notched to give the Gulls a healthy advantage but goals from John McGrath (26), Greg Pearson (41) and Calvin Zola (56) pulled the Brewers level, before Billy Kee climbed off the bench to hit a 73rd minute leveller.

Virtually relegated

Down at the bottom, Stockport are all but relegated after a 2-2 stalemate with Northampton at Edgeley Park. Guillem Bauza put the Cobblers ahead in the second minute but a Paul Rodgers own goal (23) gave the Hatters hope. Shaun Harrad restored the visitors' lead via the penalty spot on 78 minutes before substitute Greg Tansey struck a 35-yard screamer with two minutes remaining to ensure the Hatters survive for another game. But the bottom side are all-but-down, sitting six points behind the 22nd-placed Cobblers with a massive 35 goal difference to make up. Second-from-bottom Barnet remain a point behind the Cobblers after a 2-2 home draw with Oxford. The Bees twice took the lead via Clovis Kamdjo and Mark Hughes but James Constable netted a brace to earn a point for the visitors. Lincoln remain deep in relegation trouble after a 2-0 home reverse to Cheltenham. Josh Low (65) and Danny Andrew (88) scored to leave the Robins six points above the drop zone and all but safe, while the 21st-placed Imps are now just two points above Barnet. David Syers scored a last-gasp winner as Bradford beat Aldershot 2-1 to also be all but safe, sitting six points above the drop zone. Will Haining notched a 71st minute leveller to earn a point for Morecambe against Hereford, for whom Steven Leslie scored a 42nd minute opener. The Shrimps remain six points above the drop zone, but the 20th-placed Bulls are rooted in relegation trouble, only three points above Barnet. In the last League Two game on Monday, Macclesfield are virtually safe after a goalless stalemate with Southend left them six points above the relegation places.
