PL Team of the Week

Find out who made Sky Sports' latest Premier League XI following the weekend's games.

Team of the Week

Jussi Jaaskelainen - West Ham
The veteran Finn produced an impressive performance to ensure West Ham came away from Southampton with a 0-0 draw on Sunday. Jaaskelainen spread himself superbly to block Dani Osvaldo's shot in the first half, and then flung himself to his left in the second half to keep out efforts from Rickie Lambert and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Pablo Zabaleta - Manchester City
For the second Premier League weekend in a row, Zabaleta takes the right-back position following City's 0-0 draw at Stoke. Dependable in defence and an outlet going forward, Zabaleta remains arguably City's most consistent performer after an impressive last season.
Phil Jagielka - Everton
Everton secured a first Premier League win under Roberto Martinez at the weekend after beating Chelsea 1-0, and the defensive bedrock provided by Jagielka and Sylvain Distin was a key element. As Chelsea tried to increase the pressure in the second half, Jagielka withstood all the visitors had to throw at him.
Dejan Lovren - Southampton
Southampton's summer recruitment focused on quality rather than quantity and one of those signings - Dejan Lovren - has quickly settled into the Premier League. The Croatian joined from Lyon and delivered another dominant performance in keeping West Ham striker Modibo Maiga quiet in the 0-0 draw.
Danny Rose - Tottenham
After spending last season on loan at Sunderland, Rose has grasped his chance to become Tottenham's first-choice left-back this term. He is a threat going forward and, in Saturday's 2-0 win over Norwich, was involved in Gylfi Sigurdsson's opening goal.
Hatem Ben Arfa - Newcastle
Another player making successive appearances in the Team of the Week, Ben Arfa was the influential performer in Newcastle's 2-1 win at Aston Villa. Ben Arfa turned home the opening goal in the first half before cutting in on his left foot in the second half and seeing his shot parried by Brad Guzan to Yoan Gouffran, who converted for the winner.
Charlie Adam - Stoke City
A second outing of the season in the Team of the Week for Stoke midfielder Adam, who was the stand-out player in an otherwise uneventful 0-0 draw against Man City. Adam dictated play for Stoke and his clever passing game looks set to flourish under Mark Hughes.
Gareth Barry - Everton
Making his Everton debut against Chelsea after joining on loan from Man City, Barry produced a 'master-class' performance, according to his manager Martinez. His most notable contribution was a superb block to prevent Samuel Eto'o from scoring in the first half as he used all of his experience to lead Everton to victory.
Aaron Ramsey - Arsenal
Another player featuring for the second time, Ramsey just edges out team-mate Mesut Ozil for a spot in midfield. Ramsey scored twice in the 3-1 win at Sunderland, the first a fine first-time volley from Carl Jenkinson's cross and the second a low finish under Keiren Westwood after an excellent team move.
Gylfi Sigurdsson - Tottenham
Like north London rival Ramsey, Sigurdsson also scored twice this weekend as he netted both goals in Spurs' win over Norwich. His first goal required a touch to control and then a curling shot past John Ruddy after a superb team build-up and the second was a tap-in at the far post after Ruddy had failed to cut out Paulinho's low ball across the six-yard box.
Daniel Sturridge - Liverpool
The Liverpool striker scored for the fifth game in a row in all competitions as his side drew 2-2 at Swansea on Monday night. Sturridge seized on a poor back-pass from former team-mate Jonjo Shelvey to draw Liverpool level on four minutes. His intelligent run also provided the space for Victor Moses to fire home Liverpool's second goal as Sturridge maintained his fine start to the season.
