Gulls come back from two goals down against Notts County

Torquay battled from two goals down to secure an unlikely draw at high-flying Notts County on Sunday. The visitors started the game slowly and saw their box bombarded with crosses in the early stages. The Magpies eventually opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Craig Westcarr capitalised on some indecisive defending in the Torquay area before firing from the edge of the area into the top corner. County extended their lead when Ben Davies curled a superb free-kick from 25 yards out into the top left hand corner on 33 minutes. Just when the hosts thought they were home and dry the Gulls pulled a goal back when defender Mark Ellis got on the end of a free-kick from the left to slot home. Torquay were noticeably buoyed by the goal in the second half and could have been awarded a penalty on 56 minutes when Tim Sills saw his goal bound effort from six yards out come off the hands of County midfielder Richard Ravenhill. However Sills was not to be denied when he popped up in the area 13 minutes from time to shoot past Kasper Schmeichel as County failed to deal with a free-kick. Torquay stay second bottom while the point moves Notts County up to fifth in League Two.
