Vale boss got desired response though after transfer-listing squad
Accrington's Andrew Procter lashed in a dramatic last gasp equaliser to seal a deserved 2-2 draw at Port Vale.
Vale got off to a perfect start when a long throw by Anthony Griffith was cleared to Louis Dodds, who buried an 18-yard shot into the bottom right-hand corner of Alan Martin's net.
But the visitors, with Jimmy Ryan pulling the strings, more than held their own and Procter threatened when his thumping header struck the inside of a post five minutes before the break.
Defences were largely on top in the second-half before Vale substitute Sam Stockley handled a shot from Procter and Phil Edwards converted the 81st minute penalty.
Vale thought they had won it when Martin failed to deal with Stockley's 86th minute cross and Tommy Fraser stole in to head home.
But Accrington were not finished and Procter's 20-yard shot took a slight deflection before it flashed low into the Vale net.
