Tranmere came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory over Preston - a second win in four days for Ronnie Moore's men.
Preston claimed the lead in the 12th minute of Tuesday night's League One clash at Prenton Park, with Graham Cummins heading in strongly following a well-placed free-kick by Barry Nicholson. It took Tranmere just two minutes to equaliser, Enoch Showunmi heading home following good work by Ryan Brunt. John Welsh was not far off target with a shot from range before Brunt wasted a big chance when set clear in the 25th minute. Then, Thorsten Stuckmann in the North End goal just held onto a James Wallace strike. It required an excellent save by Stuckmann to deny Lucas Akins in the 54th minute, before another Wallace attempt was deflected for a 64th minute corner. But Tranmere kept up the pressure and went ahead in the 67th minute when Andy Robinson fired in off a post after being set up by Ian Goodison. Preston kept battling away but rarely threatened home keeper Owain Fon Williams as they failed to win for a fifth match running.
