Freeman downs O's on debut

Luke Freeman's goal on debut and a Dean Bowditch effort handed Yeovil a 2-1 home win over Leyton Orient.

Yeovil had the better earlier chances with debutants Adam Virgo and Freeman both going just wide in the first seven minutes and on 12 minutes they got the opener they deserved as Bowditch cut in from the right before firing a great shot off the far post. The O's, managed by former Yeovil boss Russell Slade, battled back and were always dangerous on the break and it was no surprise when they equalised on 41 minutes. Stephen Dawson and Dean Cox did some good work down the left and a pinpoint cross from the latter was headed in at close range by Alex Revell. In first-half stoppage time Yeovil regained the lead as Orient keeper Jamie Jones fumbled a tame right-wing cross by Andy Williams and Luke Freeman, on loan from Arsenal, scrambled the ball home. The second-half again saw chances at both ends with Orient out of luck when Terrell Forbes, making his debut after several seasons at Yeovil, rattled the post with a terrific header for a left-wing corner.
