Mo Farah and Usain Bolt lead IAAF 2013 World Athlete of the Year shortlist

Great Britain's Mo Farah and Jamaica's Usain Bolt have both been nominated for the 2013 IAAF World Athlete of the Year.

Farah, a double gold medallist at the London Olympics, won both the 5,000m and 10,000m races at this year's World Championships in Moscow.

Bolt, the world's fastest man, followed his triple gold showing in London with gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m events in Moscow.

The other nominees include, American decathlete Ashton Eaton, the World and Olympic champion, and his compatriot, the double Olympic and World champion 400m specialist LaShawn Merritt.

On the women's side, Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Ethiopian duo Meseret Defar and Tirunesh Dibaba are the stand-out names on a list filled with Olympic and World Champions.

Defar, the 5,000m world and Olympic champion, and Dibaba the 10,000m Olympic and world champion, are joined by fellow track specialist Brianna Rollins, the world 100m hurdles champion.
