Lions ratings

Following the Lions' historic win in the deciding Test, we assess how the players fared.

The British and Irish Lions cut loose to rack up a series-winning 41-16 victory over Australia in Sydney.

15 Leigh Halfpenny

The Lions full-back was a different class and has underlined himself as arguably as the world's leading No 15. He weighed in with 21 points but there is so much more to his game, with a hand in tries for Sexton and North. 10

14 Tommy Bowe

The Irish winger showed plenty of endeavour and willingness to get involved. He came close to sealing his performance with a try late on and can be pleased to leave Australia as a series winner. 7

13 Jonathan Davies

The pressure was on Davies to deliver and credit to the Welshman, he rose to the occasion. He showed some lovely touches, including one delightful chip to the corner, and didn't miss a tackle. 8

12 Jamie Roberts

Brought in to get the Lions over the gain line and it worked. He made 25m with the ball in hand and crucially sealed the win when he raced over for a try as the Lions cut loose. 8

11 George North

Must have been a contender for the man of the series after another sensational display. Set the tone with a big hit on Israel Falou while he crossed for a try in the second half. He covered 54m with the ball in hand during a tireless display. 9

10 Jonny Sexton

The fly-half blotted his copybook with a missed tackle as James O'Connor scored, however he made amends with his second-half score. He dictated the backs brilliantly and his kicking game was class. 8

9 Mike Phillips

Started the match off like a house on fire as he looked to put his second Test omission behind him. He had a hand in the first try and got stuck into the Aussies. He tired, though, as the game went on. 7

1 Alex Corbisiero

The England prop was simply immense as the Lions pack got stuck into the Wallabies. The role he played can't be underestimated, with Gatland naming him as his man of the match. He also got the Lions off to the perfect start with the opening try. 9

2 Richard Hibbard

The hooker was a beast and played on for long periods despite needing treatment three times following a heavy collision with George Smith. He was part of a dominant scrum and hit his men in the lineout. 8

3 Adam Jones

As has been said before, Jones is not in the side to do anything flash and make searing breaks, he is there to scrum, scrum and scrum - and he loved every minute of it. Was the cornerstone of a stunning display by the pack. 8

4 Alun-Wyn Jones

Having been handed the captaincy, Jones led from the front. He spilt blood for the cause and left everything he had on the pitch. No one carried more than him, while he also made 12 tackles and provided the grunt in the second row. 9

5 Geoff Parling

The lock brought so much to the game. His tap tackle on Jesse Mogg was something special, with Parling weighing in with 12 tackles in total. He also made six carries and was a giant in the lineout. 8

6 Dan Lydiate

The flanker didn't make as many tackles as he has done in previous games but the way he kept the shackles on Will Genia deserves special credit. He was also a useful outlet with the ball in hand. 8

7 Sean O'Brien

Another player who would have been in the running for the man of the match award. He simply ran himself into the ground and wanted to play on despite injury. He made 15 tackles and was a complete menace at the breakdown. 9

8 Toby Faletau

Finally given his chance in a Lions Test shirt, Faletau shone with his work ethic. He made 11 carries and produced some superb work at the breakdown. He was also a class option at the lineout. 8

Replacements

16 Tom Youngs (Picked up where Hibbard left off with an impressive work ethic)
17 Mako Vunipola (Helped finish off the Aussies late on)
18 Dan Cole (Helped continue the Lions' dominance at scrum time)
19 Richie Gray (Finally given his chance and got stuck in)
20 Justin Tipuric (Weighed in with some useful work after replacing O'Brien)
21 Conor Murray (The pick of the replacements as he got the backs moving)
22 Owen Farrell (A deserved chance late on and showed his adventure with a delightful chip)
23 Manu Tuilagi (Little time to impress)
