Mixed emotions for Feindouno after red card follows brace

Pascal Feindouno scored twice and was sent off as Guinea beat Morocco 3-2 in Group A of the Africa Cup of Nations. The St Etienne ace was the key figure as Guinea recovered from an opening game defeat to hosts Ghana to boost their prospects of a quarter-final spot. Guinea took an 11th minute lead when Feindouno deceived Morocco keeper Khalid Fouhami by curling a free-kick from the left of the box inside the near post. Morocco responded with Youssef Hadji forcing a save out of Kemoko Camara, while Guinea's Fode Mansare whipped a free-kick just over 10 minutes before half-time. A moment of quality from Hadji early in the second half saw Camara push his clever shot over the bar before Guinea scored a second goal on 59 minutes. Feindouno was the architect, slipping a pass in behind the Morocco defence and Ismael Bangoura steadied himself before blasting his shot into the corner. Yet Morocco pulled one back within 60 seconds as substitute Hicham Aboucherouane lashed a thumping shot into the roof of the net from the left corner of the box. But just three minutes later, Guinea were 3-1 up when Feindouno scored from the penalty spot after Souleymane Youla had been brought down. Feindouno, though, blotted his copybook on 67 minutes when he was shown a red card for rashly kicking out at Morocco's El-Armine Erbate. Morocco set up a nervy finale when former Fulham defender Abdeslam Ouaddou headed home from close range, but Guinea hung on to claim the points.
