Australia began their international season with a 55-7 thrashing of the Barbarians in Sydney.
The Wallabies ran in eight tries against a Barbarians side that managed to defeat England a week ago.
The scoreline represented the heaviest loss the famous invitational side have ever suffered at the hands of the major southern hemisphere team.
Wing Drew Mitchell, who was picked ahead of Lote Tuqiri, paid back the selectors with two tries in the lopsided encounter.
Lock James Horwill, hooker Stephen Moore, fly-half Matt Giteau and replacements Ben Alexander, David Pocock and James O'Connor also managed to score tries at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Gloucester wing Iain Balshaw scored a solitary try for the Baa-Baas that was converted by All-Black stand-off Luke McAlister.
The hosts touched down three times in the first 23 minutes and led 20-7 at half-time. But the real damage was inflicted in the second half, as the Wallabies ran in five unanswered tries.
